Faculty Led Programs
UHD faculty led programs are designed to encourage a variety of students to study abroad. These opportunities would not be
possible without the dedication, passion and tireless effort of the faculty who lead these programs. Faculty are key to the
sustainable success of study abroad at the UHD.The Office of Study Abroad provides administrative and logistical support for
all faculty led programs, offering international
educational opportunities to students throughout the year.
The first thing to consider when planning a study abroad program is which type of program best fits for your goals.
- Traditional Faculty Led Programs travel in the Summer or Winter Session
- Budget development and financial management
- General Pre-Departure Orientation
- Insurance and risk management services
- A program webpage and a suite of promotional materials
Submission Deadlines.
The completed study abroad program planning and approval form should be submitted to the department chair at least 12 to 15
months prior to the proposed program’s start date.

Study Abroad Presentation Requests
The study abroad office staff are available to present about studying or interning abroad in classroom visits, as well as for student organizations,
faculty and staff meetings, and other group presentations. We can present on program options for specific majors, locations, and terms,
as well as funding opportunities, including nationally competitive scholarships.

The Fulbright Scholar Program
The Fulbright Program is the flagship international educational exchange program sponsored by the U.S. government.
It is designed to increase mutual understanding between the people of the United States and the people of other countries.
Via the program, competitively-selected American citizens including students, scholars, teachers, professionals, scientists
and artists may receive scholarshipsor grants to study, conduct research, teach, or exercise their talents abroad; and citizens of
other countries may qualify to do the same in the United States.

an international program. It is designed to provide you with general assistance as you propose,
develop, and lead a UHD faculty-led study program. In it you will find information outlining the
responsibilities of both the Faculty Lead and the Study Abroad Office, travel guidelines, suggestions for dealing
with behavioral problems, procedures to follow in the event of an emergency, and other important topics.
