 Michelle Moosally began teaching at UHD in 1998 after completing a Ph.D. in Linguistics from the University of Texas at Austin.  She has served as Faculty Senate President, coordinator of the MS in Technical Communication, co-director of the Institute for Plain English Research and Study, and Chair of the English Department.  Dr. Moosally teaches courses in linguistics, editing, grammar, and the history of English.

​Dr. Moosally is a tenured associate professor in English teaching courses in grammar, linguistics, editing, technical writing, and history of the English language.  She has a Ph.D. in Linguistics, with a specialization in syntax.  She has also conducted research and presented on various aspects of plain English.  In addition, Dr. Moosally has served as editor for The National Journal of Sociology and The Texas Teacher Education Forum.

​Research

Presentation and research interests include interaction between grammar knowledge and writing abilities/interest, cross-linguistic patterns of agreement, plain language, and shared governance processes.
