About O'Kane Theatre

The O'Kane Theatre is part of the Department of Arts & Communication and has been a part of the University of Houston-Downtown for over thirty-five years. Students, faculty, staff and alumni have enjoyed participation from performing on stage to working backstage

Past productions of the theatre include: Ain't Misbehavin', Tartuffe, Antigone, Our Town, The Mousetrap, Romeo & Juliet, Macbeth, Oedipus The King, Plaza Suite, A Few Good Men, The Little Foxes, Small Craft Warnings, Fences, Steel Magnolias, and Ghosts.

Located located on the north side of the third floor of One Main Building N364, the O'Kane Theatre provides its patrons with an intimate environment suitable for a more involving theatre experience. This intimacy gives the audience member a feeling of up close and personal with the action on stage.

The O'Kane theatre seeks to introduce students to live theatre and instill in them an understanding of and appreciation for this dramatic art form. It is designed to focus on and emphasize the development and education of the student, both on-stage and backstage.
