Center for Latino Studies

UHD President Dr. Juan Sánchez Muñoz, Welcomes The Center for Latino Studies

"I am pleased to welcome our newest center, The Center for Latino Studies, to UHD this semester. In a short time, the center (directed by Dr. Bonnie Lucero) has hosted several events on campus and soon will present a Veterans Day lecture. “Latino Manhood & The Military,” a discussion with Dr. Juan Coronado will be conducted at noon, Nov. 7 in A300. In addition to its on-campus events, the center is developing curriculum including “Introduction to Latino Studies” and “Black and Brown Feminisms.” Such courses will be part of the existing Latino Studies concentration (available to undergraduate Humanities majors). The center also inaugurated its first newsletter, which includes a number of important updates and highlights. It goes without saying that this center is vital for a Hispanic Serving Institution such as UHD, and I look forward to watching it grow." - UHD President Dr. Muñoz
