UHD 12th Annual Gender Conference

April 4, 2019

Gender involves social and cultural understandings of sexual difference and the practices and behaviors that support or challenge those understandings.  We welcome proposals from Houston area undergraduate and graduate students in all disciplines for individual papers, panels, poster presentations, visual art presentations, creative writing, or performance art.

2019 - Call for Artists

Submission Information

  • Subject matter should relate to the topic of gender and must be appropriate for viewers of all ages
  • Artwork accepted in any material, and must be no larger than 4 feet by 4 feet
  • Deadlines for submission - March 19 and March 21 from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm
  • Submit artwork to Ms. Secor in S1012 by the deadline
  • Artwork will be on view April 3 - April 18, 2019
  • Artwork must be picked up from Ms. Secor by April 25.

There will be a $100.00 prize for be artwork.  For more information contact Beth Secor. 


Best Student Paper/Artwork on Women/Gender in Latino/a/x or Latin American Communities

The Center for Latino Studies is offering a $500 prize for Best Student Paper on Women or Gender and Latino/a/x or Latin American Communities, and a $500 prize for Best Art on Women or Gender in Latino/a/x or Latin American Communities.

Submission Instructions for Paper

  • Submit Paper
  • Deadline for the abstract is March 8
  • Deadline for final paper is March 20
