Call Me MISTER
(Mentors Instructing Students Toward Effective Role Model) at UHD is to increase and diversify the pool of educators within the teaching field, primarily within the city of Houston. CMM focuses on providing guidance and opportunities for minority me, particularly Black/African American and Hispanic/Latino males. CMM provides many resources for prospective and current program participants. Here are some of those resources:
- Cohort-based Instruction
- Tuition assistance through Loan Forgiveness programs for admitted students pursuing approved
- Programs of study in teacher education at participating colleges
- An academic support system to help assure their success
- A cohort system for social and cultural support
- Assistance with job placement
Along with helping to expand the pool of applicants within the teaching field, the primary goal is to support our primary school district with diverse and qualified men to teach within local K-12 schools.
