What is the Graduate Portfolio?
Every student must register for TCOM 6099 the semester they intend to graduate. The graduate faculty uses the graduate portfolio to assess the performance of the MSTC program. The graduate portfolio is an assembly of five projects. Each project must demonstrate one of the following learning outcomes:

  • Documentation production and project management: Write and edit communication management related documents in print and electronic genres.
  • Rhetorical analysis: Apply rhetorical principles to evaluate and produce documents.
  • Global awareness: Analyze multicultural implications of professional communication.
  • Research methodologies: Conduct and report research in communication management using appropriate methods and critical theories.
  • Technological aptitude: Use current technology to produce effective documents.

The graduation portfolio will assess your progress as a writer, designer, and editor. Students often use the graduate portfolio to help decide on a career direction.

Please contact the Degree Director for a copy of the "Portfolio Guidelines."
