FALL 2004 ACADEMIC CALENDAR

March 31 Fall application deadline for the Master’s program in Professional Writing May 15 Fall application deadline for Master’s program in Criminal Justice June 5 Priority web registration begins for declared majors June 14 In person registration begins for all other students August 16 Emergency tuition loans become available August 21 Saturday/Weekend College Registration, 10am-2pm   Last day for Regular Registration; last day to make payment for Regular Registration (2pm) or classes will be dropped August 22 Last day for 100% refund on complete withdrawal of tuition and fees (less $15 fee ).   See e-services for ending time.   In person transactions must be made by Saturday, August 21, 2pm. August 23 Fall semester classes begin August 23-27 Late Registration and Payment (including late fee)   Schedule changes   Complete withdrawals receive an 80% refund of tuition and fees (student still responsible for 20% of total bill) August 28 Saturday classes begin for Fall semester August 28-Sept 2 Complete withdrawals receive a 70% refund of tuition and fees (student still responsible for 30% of total bill) September 3-9 Complete withdrawals receive a 50% refund of tuition and fees (student still responsible for 50% of total bill) September 4 Official Day of Record/Last day to: (Saturday hours are 8-noon)   • appeal residency status   • drop without a grade   • request an International Student Health Insurance waiver   • receive refund for partial withdrawal   • change to audit status September 6 Labor Day holiday, university closed September 10-15 Complete withdrawals receive a 25% refund of tuition and fees (student still responsible for 75% of total bill -- no refund after Sept 15 ) September 15 20th class day (for reporting purposes)   Last day to pay for Late Registration (6pm) or classes will be dropped September 17 Writing Proficiency Exam, UHD at One Main, 8am; 11am; 2pm & 5pm sessions September 18 Writing Proficiency Exam, UHD at One Main, UHS-Sugar Land and the University Center (Woodlands), 7:30am; 10:30am at UHD at One Main only September 23 Second payment of installment plan due October 28 Last day to withdraw from a course (6pm)   Final payment of installment plan due (6pm) November 24 No classes, university open until 5pm November 25-27 Thanksgiving holidays, university closed November 29 Last class day for Monday-only classes November 30 Last class day for Tuesday-only classes December 1 Last class day for Wednesday-only classes and classes that meet more than once a week December 2 Last class day for Thursday-only classes December 3 Last class day for Friday-only classes December 2-3 Reading Days (for classes that meet more than once a week) December 4 Last class day for Saturday-only classes December 6-11 Final examinations December 11 Official close of Fall semester   Last day to pay installment balance without $50 delinquent fee. December 15 Grades due December 16 Grades available (10am) at www.uhd.edu December 19 Commencement - 2 pm at Minute Maid Park
