AMA UHD Overview.  AMA UHD is a student-run organization at the University of Houston-​Downtown. Our current vision is to build the strongest network of students dedicated to a growth-inspired lifestyle. We strengthen members' marketing knowledge and practical experience by exposing students to real-world marketing through professional development events and social networking activities.​

As an AMA UHD collegiate member, you will receive many benefits, including:

Faculty Advisor
Dr. Pointer is a full professor who has been teaching marketing for over thirty years.  Prior to beginning her teaching career, she worked in consumer package goods marketing for a number of major companies including General Mills and Johnson and Johnson. She continues to work with different nonprofit organizations on various marketing and research oriented projects.

Scott Davis is an enthusiastic advocate of blended learning and interactive classrooms. He earned degrees in Operations, Business Management, and Marketing. His experience and interests include courses in Sales Management, Personal Selling, Marketing Strategy, Marketing Management, Consumer Behavior, Digital Marketing, New Product Development, and Integrated Marketing Communications. Dr. Davis is committed to helping students discover and develop practical, real-world applications of marketing education through classroom activities and creative online course material. He engages industry experts, academics, and students in his program of research which includes healthcare marketing, consumer self-control, and social media marketing.

Hello Fellow Gators, I'm Esteban Smith current Senior Marketing student and UHDs American Marketing Association collegiate chapter President. AMA has been a big part in growing my marketing skills, connecting with industry professionals, and developing my personal brand. My biggest interest are in brand management and public relations which I hope to pursue in the near future once I complete my degree. As I always say marketing will follow you into all aspects of business so my not make knowing marketing your business.

Hello everyone, nice to meet all of ya'll! My name is Evangelina Vazquez and I am currently in my senior year here at UHD majoring in Marketing. I would say I'm the kind of person who always had a creative eye for anything. Anything having to do with design and the arts have been my passion and I aspire to involve those skills in any task given to me.editing/filmmaking

I guess you can also call me a knowledgeable adventurer, because I love discovering new things and always get thrilled to travel to new places. Following those two passions I recently started a new hobby in video editing/filmmaking. Although it is currently a work in progress, it is my dream to one day create videos over the many places I travel to or any other interesting content. I believe through my hard work and perseverance mentality I'll be able to achieve this dream and accomplish anything I put my mind to. Well,…sadly this comes to the end of my little get to know me paragraph. If you made it this far, you're awesome! Evangelina Vazquez Alejandra Perez

Hello everyone! My name is Alejandra Perez and I am currently a junior at the University of Houston-Downtown. I am a Marketing major with a minor in Digital Marketing. I transferred from Lone Star College-CyFair in August 2020 with an Associate of Arts in Speech Communication. Once I graduate and refine my skill set, I hope to work for a nonprofit organization such as a school/college, shelter, or animal welfare group. I am passionate about helping others and my local community. Outside of school, I love to hike, volunteer, draw, and improve my photography in my spare time.
