Dr. Pointer is a full professor who has been teaching marketing for over thirty years. Prior to beginning her teaching career, she worked in consumer package goods marketing for a number of major companies including General Mills and Johnson and Johnson. She continues to work with different nonprofit organizations on various marketing and research oriented projects.

Dr. Pointer's teaching interests are in the areas of consumer behavior and promotional strategy.

​Dr. Pointer research interest spans a number of areas including strategic marketing management, health care marketing, and entrepreneurship. She has served on numerous university, college and departmental committees.  Currently, she chairs the University Curriculum Committee and serves on the University Planning & Budget Committee, and the Academic Affairs Committee. She has served as an advisor to various student organizations through the years, including the collegiate chapter of the American Marketing Association at different universities.
