Cory Angert, Ph.D., with a full-ride scholarship, graduated from the University of Houston Main with a Bachelor of Business Administration, certification in Entrepreneurship and Intrapreneurship, and a minor in International Area Studies: Asian Studies. Subsequently, granted one of three Fellowships in the University of Houston Main C.T. Bauer College of Business Management Department, Dr. Angert served as an instructor and research assistant, earning his Doctorate of Philosophy in Strategic Management, with a minor in Research Methods, all while becoming a member of the Under 30 Club by earning his Ph.D. at age 26.   Intrapreneurship, which involves the focusing of entrepreneurial skills within an existing corporation to create new services, products, or systems that will improve the company, remains one of Dr. Angert's favorite undertakings, and he works assiduously to develop techniques and devices that will enhance and advance company profitability. A grammar enthusiast and prolific writer, Dr. Angert also serves as editor and proofreader of his colleagues' grant submissions and articles for peer reviewed journals. His reviewing for international conventions and his text book editing and critiques have been highly acclaimed. Dr. Angert also strives to assist his students in perfecting their own written and oral communication skills and takes great pride in their success. Dr. Angert, active in research, presently is concentrating on diversity within organizations and especially diversity on corporate boards of directors; additionally, his journal submissions and op-ed articles include pieces that highlight other pertinent contemporary areas of concern. An avid gamer and aficionado, Dr. Angert has earned an impressive Gamerscore that attests to his keen interest in interactive entertainment. A pop-culture guru, Dr. Angert uses contemporary media and references to movies, televisions shows, and more as mnemonics intended to drive home points and ensure that his students more fully understand otherwise challenging, complex strategic management concepts. Through his assiduous monitoring of industry trends, and his productive relationships with corporate decision-makers working in various sectors, including technology, videogames, energy, and retail, Dr. Angert remains current on developments occurring in corporate America. This commitment enables Dr. Angert to provide his students with real-world scenarios that truly integrate course content into actual strategic management situations.

 

 

​Dr. Angert, a researcher in gender and diversity in organizations, enjoys presenting his work at management conferences and won the Strategic Management Society's prestigious Best Ph.D. Paper prize. 

​Dr. Angert presently teaches, in both online and face-to-face formats, the College of Business's capstone course of Business Strategy, which unifies the disciplines of management, sociology, technology, economics, marketing, psychology, ethics, and business relationships. Dr. Angert's curriculum emphasizes group dynamics, as his students, all seniors, work in teams in consultation with various CEOs, CFOs, and other managers within the Houston area business community. This outreach strengthens UHD's presence among Houston businesses, and Dr. Angert has forged numerous ties with industry. Dr. Angert has also taught courses in international business, general management, and strategic management at the undergraduate level.​

​Some of Dr. Angert's professional affiliations include the Beta Gamma Sigma Business Honor Society, Rice Alliance for Technology and Entrepreneurship, University of Houston Small Business Development Center, Academy of Management, Southern Management Association, Strategic Management Society, Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, Golden Key International Honour Society, and University of Houston Alumni Association.
