About UHD
General
The University
of Houston-Downtown welcomes students from around the world. Because the
University of Houston-Downtown is a small campus of the University of Houston
system, students benefit from smaller classes and from faculty who take a personal
interest in each student. Here are some facts about the university:- founded in 1974; member of a university system founded in 1927
- a state-sponsored university
- in the central business district of Houston, Texas
- an open-admission institution
- dedicated to providing curriculum and support services necessary for academic success
- offers four-year degree programs in 26 areas of study
- offers graduate programs in education, criminal justice and professional writing
- 10,000 students attend classes each year
- 350 are international students.
Degree Programs Offered
The University of Houston-Downtown is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award Bachelor's degrees. The College of Business is accredited by the American Assembly of Collegiate Schools of Business. The Engineering Technology piping degree is accredited by the Technology Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology.
