International Students

    Admission to the University of Houston-Downtown is open to individuals who have completed their higher/secondary school education. To apply for admission to the English Language Institute followed by academic study, send these items to the English Language Institute:
    1. International student application form, completed and signed by the applicant.
    2. An Affidavit of Support, completed and signed by the financial sponsor.
    3. Original letter from sponsor's bank indicating the sponsor's ability to pay for student expenses.
    4. Admission fee of $60.00 (Cashier's checks, money orders, personal checks, payable to the University of Houston-Downtown. Personal checks must be in U.S. dollars and imprinted with the account holder's name and address.)
    5. Official English-translated transcript and the original transcript from all higher/secondary school records indicating courses, grades, marks and date of graduation. No photocopies or faxes.
    6. Copy of passport pages that show student's identification information and passport expiration date.
    Students who have applied for their residency, but have not yet had their interview and who do not have a passport stamp for temporary resident admission to the United States are treated as international students in terms of tuition. Admissions at UH-D

    Residents and Citizens of the U.S.

    Residents and citizens can register for English Language Institute classes with the following data:
    1. Proof of high school graduation
    2. Residency card (green card) or proof of citizenship
    3. $40.00 non-refundable application fee
