Ace the Essay: Writing Personal Statements

and College Admissions Essays

What makes the perfect essay? What do college admissions offices look for in a personal statement? During this week-long seminar and workshop created by Writers in the Schools (WITS), we’llread and analyze writers who work in memoir, non-fiction, and essay, and we’ll practice successful personal narrative techniques. The instructor will examine the rules and guidelines that will help students write a better essay and breathe new life into an old form. By the end of the week, students will leave with an essay ready to submit to the college admission office.
