This Writers in the Schools (WITS) workshop is designed to get young students to create their own book filled with their own poetry and writing. Students will write daily and explore the various genres of writing, with a focus on poetry. We’ll help your young students develop their own voice, have fun with vocabulary, and use their imaginations. We’ll explore the bookmaking process, and students will make their own poetry book; each book will be a unique product. At the end of the workshop, parents and family will be invited to hear students read their favorite pieces, and students will leave with their own version of a literary chapbook. Students may be asked to bring extra art materials.
