Message from the President

Remembering 9/11

Sept. 11, 2013

Dear UHD Community,

Today marks a tragic day in our country's history. The heartbreaking 9/11 attacks resulted in the loss of 3,000 lives, including many first-responders and volunteers who courageously stepped in to help their fellow Americans.

As the day progresses, I encourage you to take a personal moment of silence to remember the sacrifices of these brave individuals and the heroic efforts of our nation's policemen, firefighters and paramedics who put others' safety above their own.

They embodied the peaceful mission of Martin Luther King Jr., who said, "Everyone can be great, because everyone can serve."

We can continue to learn from their valiant example as we seek to model the self-sacrifice and service they displayed on a national stage 12 years ago today.

Sincerely,

Bill Flores
UHD President
