UH-Downtown's O'Kane Theatre Presents Romeo and Juliet

Director Kate Pogue offers an exciting rendition of one of the most famous love stories in Western literature.

(Houston, Texas, March 26, 2007)   It's an age-old story of forbidden love, family enmity, and ultimate sacrifice.   Theater-goers have thrilled to it since the 4th century and still this sweet tragedy grips the hearts of audiences everywhere.

The O'Kane Theatre presents for your viewing pleasure William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, under the direction of Kate Pogue, UHD adjunct faculty in communication studies and drama.   Against a background clashing of swords, Shakespeare delineates the inexorable destruction of tender love caught between warring families: For never was a story of more woe/Than this of Juliet and her Romeo.
