Texas State Senator Rodney Ellis and Time Warner Cable collaborate on a message about opportunites in higher education.
(November 4, 2006) Senator Rodney Ellis visited with students during a taping of a TEXAS Grant Program public service announcement (PSA) on the UHD campus. Ellis is the author and co-creator of the scholarship which pays tuition and fees at Texas colleges and universities for qualified students. The PSA targets pre-college students and their parents.
Senator Ellis also partnered with UHD over the summer to speak with UHD Texas Grant recipients who were featured in his 2006 Report from Senator Ellis.
He wants to encourage more Texans to take advantage of the scholarship program. "We created the program in 1999 to provide higher education opportunities and to ensure that our state produces enough college graduates for the 21st century economy," Ellis said in his latest constituent newsletter.
The PSA, scheduled to hit the airwaves later this year, is being produced by Time Warner Cable and will be included on the UHD website.
