Earth Day Activities at UH-Downtown

Al Gore's Inconvenient Truth Spurs a Visit From The Climate Project

(Houston, Texas, April 16, 2007)   Earth Day is almost upon us!   The first Earth Day in 1970 led to the creation of the United States Environmental Protection Agency and the passage of the Clean Air, Clean Water, and Endangered Species acts.   Now we must carefully consider world climate, which is the focus of this year's Earth Day.

On Tuesday, April 23, in room A-350 from 3:00 to 4:30, Mr. Gary Dunham from The Climate Project will offer a sobering look at possible changes in our global environment.   ( The Climate Project educates about climate change as a follow-up to Al Gore's Oscar-winning film An Inconvenient Truth.)   This event is sponsored by members of the Department of Social Sciences.

For those who wish to see the Al Gore film, there will be a free showing of An Inconvenient Truth on Thursday, April 26, 12:00 - 2:00 in the Wilhemina Culbertson Auditorium, sponsored by the UH-Downtown Community Involvement Center.

Earth Day activities are open to students, faculty, and staff.
