New Director of Admissions Jose Cantu and Admissions Counselor Rocio Beiza take to the airwaves to promote Open House

(November 6, 2006)   The new UHD Director of Admissions and Recruitment, Jose Cantu, has hit the ground running by appearing on Univision's local community affairs talk show, "Nuestra Vida (Our Life)," alongside Admissions Counselor Rocio Beiza.  

The pair promoted Destination UHD, the 2006 Open House for Freshmen and Transfer Students, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, December 2.  

Cantu worked at the University of Houston for over thirteen years. In his most recent role as Associate Director of Admissions he was responsible for the development, implementation and evaluation of transfer recruitment, transfer credit evaluations, articulation agreements and customer service.  He was instrumental in developing close partnerships with community colleges and helping to streamline the transition process so students could continue their education with the fewest problems.  He has also had direct experience working with high schools as a recruiter and academic advisor.

Beiza (BBA Accounting, 2000), has been an admissions counselor since 2001.   As a counselor she recruits students throughout the Houston area and specializes in freshman recruitment.
