UHD 42nd Commencement - Spring 2007

University of Houston-Downtown: Excellence and Opportunity

(May 12, 2007)     Since 1974, UHD has transformed lives and the world around us.   As a new generation university, UHD is the vanguard in higher education for providing career-driven undergraduate and graduate degrees at an affordable cost. Diverse in age, gender and ethnicity, UHD graduates reflect the rich culture of Houston.

This spring, Florizelle "Florie" Liser (pronounced liz-EAR) was the keynote speaker. Ms. Lizer is the Assistant U.S. Trade Representative for Africa. She shared her own story of perseverance with the graduates, their families and friends.

Student Representative Tayvis W. Dunnahoe, ('07, BS Professional Writing) spoke about his determination to complete his degree and the many twists in his journey.   He graduated with a 4.0 grade point average.

Visionary programs, creative partnerships, and excellence in teaching prepare our graduates for the 21st Century. Flexibility and innovation in these areas make UHD a leader in higher education, and contribute to the economic and social well-being of our community.
