Earth Day Festival 2008                  

Take a boat ride on the bayou and celebrate Earth Day at the University of Houston-Downtown's
first Earth Day Festival 2008, 10 a.m.-3 p.m., Monday, April 21, 1 Main St. The university is easily
accessible by MetroRail at the UH-Downtown Station.

The public is invited to visit with local agencies and listen to expert speakers to learn fun ways everyday people can help the environment.

Take a boat ride on the bayou and see nature at its best in an urban setting. Enjoy live music, a small farmer's market, as well as giveaways and educational activities about environmental responsibility.

At 2:30 p.m., take time to watch The 11th Hour, narrated by Leonardo DiCaprio. The documentary explores the state of the planet. It features politicians, scientists and other ambassadors who speak about universal ecological consciousness.

The festival is sponsored by the UHD Community Involvement Center & the UHD Environmental Club.
