| Late,
Lost, and Damaged Materials |
|
| Please return or
renew materials by the due date to avoid late or lost item
charges. Unpaid charges of $5.00 or more may result in loss
of borrowing privileges and also prevent you from registering
for classes or requesting transcripts.
You may be charged full replacement costs for any damaged
materials you return, such as books, CDs and audiovisual packaging.
Did you get an overdue notice for an item you believe was
returned? Please ask for a claims returned
form or use our Ask a Librarian
service. We will temporarily suspend late and lost item charges
while we search for the missing item.

Do
you need a book that is checked out to another person?
- Use the Request
option in the Library Catalog to place a hold
on the book. If the book is available elsewhere in the UH
System, a copy will be sent for you to pick up at our library.
If all copies are checked out, whoever has the book will
not be able to renew it and you will have access to the
book as soon as it is returned to the library. If someone
else has placed a hold on the same book before you, you
will have access to the book after that person has checked
out the book and returned it.
- If the book you're interested in has a due date of more
than a few weeks into the future, you may recall
it by contacting the Circulation Desk at 713-221-8186
or using our Ask a Librarian
service. All materials are subject to recall regardless
of the original due date.
|
| |
| Overdue
and Recall Notices |
|
- Overdue and recall notices will be sent to the e-mail
or postal address in your library record.
- Please notify us of changes in your email or postal address
to ensure delivery.
- Failure to receive an overdue or recall notice is not
grounds for dismissal of late charges.
|
| |
| Returning
Library Materials |
|
- Return books to libraries at UH-Downtown,
UH-Clear Lake, or the University of Houston.
- Return audio and video materials to staff
at the library where they were checked out.
- Receipts for returned items are available
during library hours -- just ask a staff member.
- After-hours returns can be placed in
a drop box in the library's lobby.
|
| |
| Payment
of Library Charges |
|
- UHD students, faculty, and staff can
use the "My Payment" option in the UHD e-services
system. Your library account will be automatically updated
in 2-3 business days. To request an immediate
update of your library account, please call 713-221-8186.
- All borrowers may pay in person at Cashier's
Office in Room 310-South. Please call 713-221-8000
for hours of operation. Before visiting the Cashier's Office,
please request a deposit form at the UHD Library Circulation
Desk. Due to accounting rules, we cannot accept payments
in the library. Please return to the Circulation Desk with
your Cashier's Office receipt to clear your library record.
- Library charges from libraries at UH Clear Lake
and the University of Houston Libraries
must be paid directly to those libraries.
