Dr. Sharin N. Elkholy  

Sharin N. Elkholy has been a tenure track professor of philosophy at University of Houston-Downtown since 2007. She received her doctorate in philosophy from the New School for Social Research in NY, and her undergraduate degree from Antioch College in Yellows Springs, OH. Dr. Elkholy’s research interests include existentialism, phenomenology, philosophy of race and gender and pre-reflective modes of community and inter-subjective relations. She is the author of Heidegger and a Metaphysics of Feeling: Angst and the Finitude of Being (Continuum Press, 2008) and has published numerous articles on gender, race, romanticism and phenomenology. Professor Elkholy is currently editing The Beats and Philosophy (Kentucky University Press, forthcoming 2011).
