The office of Student Accounting will send an email to your gatormail account when fee bills are available each semester. Electronic fee bills will be available on myUHD under the MY PAYMENT option about one month before classes start. If you have already been notified of your financial aid award, your tuition and fees bill will reflect your awards as anticipated financial aid to be applied to your student account. All financial aid awards should reflect on your bill with the exception of Federal and State College Workstudy and any tuition waivers.

Apply Financial Aid to Your Tuition & Fees

The goal of student financial aid is to help you bridge the gap between the cost of going to school, and the amount that you can pay.  Of course, you can't attend school without paying your bill.  Federal regulations governing the financial aid programs require that all aid be applied first to a student's basic costs of tuition, fees and other direct costs billed by the school. 

If you finalize your aid as early as possible, and register for classes at the earliest opportunity, your aid may be on reflected on your fee bill as estimated financial aid, and will show as an offset to your charges.

How and when you receive your financial aid funds depends on the type of financial aid you are awarded. Below is a general guide to assist you in planning your finances.


The following grant funds will be automatically credited to your account if you meet all disbursement requirements:

  • Federal Pell Grant
  • Texas Public Educational Grant* (TPEG)
  • Mandated Designated Tuition Grant
  • Student Deposit Scholarship
  • Federal Supplemental Equal Opportunity Grant (SEOG)
  • TEXAS Grant
  • License Plate Scholarship

If your enrollment status at the time we authorize the release of financial aid to your student account is different from the enrollment status for which you were processed, the amount of your award may be adjusted to reflect your eligibility. .

Direct and PLUS Loans

Loan funds will be credited directly to your account provided that:

  1. You have completed any loan counseling requirement and the Master Promissory Note (MPN)
  2. You are enrolled in at least six (6) credit hours
  3. You meet all other eligibility requirements

Notification will be sent to your Gatormail email when loan funds have posted to your UHD student account.
Parents who wish to receive their PLUS loan checks via paper check must indicate it on the Parent Borrower Authorization Form, available online and at the financial aid office.



Scholarships awarded by UHD will be available for credit toward your tuition and fee bill. If you are awarded funds in excess of your tuition and fee bill, you will have a balance check mailed to your home address by the UHD Accounting Office.

Scholarships awarded by organizations outside UHD will be disbursed according to guidelines provided by the donor organization.

Failure to Pay Tuition & Fees

If you have applied for financial aid and have not received notification of your financial aid award you are still responsible for payment of your tuition and fees. To assist you, UH-Downtown offers several payment options to pay your tuition and fees.

  • Pay by Credit Card
