University of Houston-Downtown's telephone
services include installation, billing, directory services, and long distance
access codes. The university has its own ROLM phone system with voicemail
capabilities.
The university also supports a compressed video network, used for video
conferencing and distance learning within the university and to remote
locations. Cable, PBS, and local TV services are available at UH-Downtown,
as well as satellite down link services.
Data networking is provided at UH-Downtown by a high speed switched ethernet
network supporting connectivity via wireless devices, OC-3, T-1, dynamic
PPP and ISDN links.
Telecommunication services are supported by the Computing,
Telecommunications, and Video Network Infrastructure and the Technical
Services groups within the Information Technology Division.
