The applications listed can be installed on any UHD-owned computer at no cost to the employees or departments (Information Technology pays for the annual license agreement with Microsoft Corporation).

Work-At-Home Option
Employees of the University of Houston-Downtown (full-time and part-time faculty & staff) are eligible to install one copy of any of the following applications on their personally owned computer at no cost provided that the software will be used for UHD purposes only:

  • Microsoft Windows Operating System Upgrade
  • Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint & Publisher)
  • MIcrosoft Visio (available by request only)
  • Microsoft Project (available by request only)

You are allowed to install only one copy of any of the applications listed above as long as the use of these applications is for UHD-related work.  You are required to remove the application(s) from your personal computer if you are no longer employed by the University of Houston-Downtown or if UHD ends its Campus Agreement with Microsoft Corporation.

How do I obtain the media for Work-At-Home?
You may obtain the media by contacting the Help Desk (Room A-700, X3000, 713-221-8031, help@uhd.edu). CD’s for Work-At-Home installations are special CD’s (different than what is used for installation on university-owned computers). These CD's may not be duplicated and they come with their own installation key codes. To pickup a copy of the Work-At-Home media, you will need to stop by room A-700.  The media issued to you will allow you to install one copy on either a PC or Laptop and requires activation with Microsoft Corporation.

Acceptance Form for Work-At-Home
Employees must read and sign the Work-At-Home Acceptance Form before obtaining any application for installation on a personally-owned computer.

Support for Work-At-Home
Information Technology does not provide support for the installation of any of the applications listed above on personal computers (including laptops).  Please make sure to check the System Requirements by Microsoft for any of the applications listed above before attempting any installation.  Microsoft also offers online support at http://support.microsoft.com/.  For help in configuring Outlook to access UHD's e-mail and calendar, you may contact the Help Desk (Room A-700, X3000, 713-221-8031, help@uhd.edu).
