Faculty and Staff Only: should contact the IT Help Desk for software installation requests for their office desktop computer or university-owned laptop. A copy of the software license agreement must accompany any software purchased by the department for the faculty or staff member prior to installation. Installation requests may take up to two weeks if the software has not been certified to be compatible with the standard software applications.
UHD Lab & Electronic Classrooms (Academic Computing Labs, Satellite Labs, and Electronic Classrooms) )require at least four weeks. Complete the sofware installation request form:
The University has a set of standard software applications for all university-owned computers and laptops for faculty, staff, and student computers.
Several hardware and software vendors offer special discounted prices for computers and software to the University of Houston-Downtown faculty, staff and students. .
Faculty and Staff are provided free of charge one copy of Microsoft Office 2007 for PC and Microsoft Office 2008 for Macintosh for their home computer. They must contact the Help Desk to reserve a copy and present their university ID. The Help Desk does not provide technical support for the home use agreement software. The faculty and/or staff must contact Microsoft directly for assistance.
