The Campus Sex Crimes Prevention Act is a federal law
enacted on October 28, 2000 that provides for the tracking of convicted,
registered sex offenders enrolled as students at institutions of higher
education, or working or volunteering on campus. It was sponsored by U.S.
Senator Jon Kyl of Arizona and supported by Security On Campus, Inc.
Any member(s) of the University Community
who wish to be informed of the identities of registered sex offenders
who are currently registered with the UH-Downtown Police Department as
a sex offender may access the DPS
Sex Offender Database and access the area for Higher Education. Each
college or university is listed with all registered sex offenders attending
those campuses.
