Sigma Tau Delta was formed in 1924, an outgrowth of the Dakota Wesleyan English Club. Judson Q. Owen, its sponsor, our founder, established the purpose, the insignia, the Greek letters, and the motto, "Sincerity, Truth, Design." Here at the University of Houston-Downtown, we are Alpha Kappa Omega.

1- Major or minor (or the equivalent) in the discipline of English.
2- Overall GPA of 3.0 & English GPA of 3.0.
3- Must be currently enrolled as a student.
4- Must have completed at least 3 semesters or 5 quarters of college course work.
