| Description: |
The history of C.A.S.A. originated in the Spring of 2003, led by Belveth Juarez, a Guatemalan student who had the intention to attract students of Central America background along with other hispanic groups attending the university in order to bring awareness of the authentic Latin American Culture on campus through food sales, social activities, community services linked with the university and outside, and through informative actions based on chronological events connected with the Hispanic culture, such as the celebration of the Central American Indenpendence in September, Cinco de Mayo in Mexico, or "El Dia de los Muertos" (The Day of the Dead) in early November. Currently the organization is in the process of expanding with approximately ten members from diverse backgrounds, and it aims to continue in growth and diversity.
Due to the recent growth in the variety of members, the appropriate name evolved to "Friends of C.A.S.A", with the clear intent to welcome any student interested to explore an authentic blend of Hispanic environment with a flare from Central America.
