Activities Day is an annual spotlight on student organizations
and the Office of Student Activities & Events. Held early
in the fall semester, it allows new as well as current students
the opportunity to check out the various clubs and organizations
on campus. Here you can meet with fraternities, sororities,
social, special interest, and professional organizations and
find your niche in the University. The event also provides an
opportunity for students to meet with representatives from several
university departments such as the Library, Career Services
and Sports & Fitness.
Crossroads Festival is our annual fall event at the University of Houston-Downtown. Originally named after the intersection where freeways Interstate 10 and Interstate 45 meet, this event provides an opportunity for the student body to engage in cultural activities, and serves as a recruitment and fundraising opportunity for our clubs and organizations. Live music, dancing, food, and novelties are all a part of Crossroads Festivals.
UHD Mardi Gras typically takes place in February. The spring edition of Activities Day, the event is the perfect tool for clubs and organizations to recruit new members. It is an entertaining event for students looking for a place to get plugged in, and take in a festive atmosphere of live Zydeco music, food, and fun.
Culture on the Bayou is our largest spring event at UHD. It is hosted on the South Deck of the University and provides cultural entertainment, live music, food, and fun to celebrate the richness and diversity of UHD. Clubs and organizations registered with the university use this time to fundraise, and raise awareness about their organizations.
One Main Event is our annual awards gala recognizing the outstanding accomplishments of our student organizations and their members throughout the year. Held each spring, this semi-formal event provides student organizations opportunity to individually recognize and award organization members who have committed valuable time and energy before an audience of their peers. The Office of Student Activities & Events uses this opportunity to recognize outstanding student organizations that have made a positive difference both on campus and in our community.
