The following page is a blank template with a header that contains a quicklinks jump menu and the search UHD function. Page sections are identified with headers. The footer contains all required links, contact and emergency information.
Instructors and students can use this page to get familiar with key new features introduced in an upgrade to UHD's Blackboard system. The topics introduced here are not meant to be a concise listing of all the changes contained in a Blackboard release, but a quick overview of key new features.
UHD is currenlty using Blackboard 9.1, Service Pack 11.
When users first log in to the upgraded Blackboard, an overlay screen will appear explaining how to get started using the new Global Navigation Menu. This overlay screen will only appear once.

Some users may recall that UHD had a tab labelled My Blackboard that contained the Course List, Announcements, and other modules. Blackboard has appropriated the term My Blackboard for a set of personal quick links, so the tab formerly named My Blackboard has been renamed to Courses and Information.
My Blackboard is a collection of tools that aggregate conversations, grades, and activities into a central area that is easily accessed. This allows users to quickly check key areas without going into individual courses.
The Global Navigation area located next to My Blackboard provides quick links to all available courses for users, including a separate section for the most recently visited courses.
More information about My Blackboard and Global Navigation.
Users will easily see that the overall look is different than prior to the upgrade. While this may appear to be a big change, you will find that much in Blackboard is still the same as it used to be.
The tabs along the top of the Blackboard screen have been consolodated and simplified. The Courses and Information tab replaces the My Blackboard and Courses tabs, and Organizations replaces the Community tab.
Inside courses, instructors can now apply Themes and Structures to a course, which further change the look and feel. Themes are solely a cosmetic change that can be applied without affecting content in any way. Structures are pre-made templates that create folders and other areas inside the course so that the instructor can then create content accordingly.
See more on Themes and Structures.
The Calendar has been extensively revamped, allowing users to view all events globally or see only events for a specific course.

Collapsing the Navigation Menu no longer affects all courses, and only lasts for the duration of the current session. A new session will start with the Navigation Menus expanded in all courses.
The Content Editor has several new features, and now allows for pasting formatted text directly from Word without unexpected complications.
