What is my Username and Password for Blackboard ?
Students are issued a computer account (UserID and Password) when they are accepted as a student at UHD. The userID and password for Blackboard is part of the "Single Sign-On" initiative and is shared with the following systems: UHD Network Account, Student e-services, Student GatorMail, Gator (Linux) Account, and the UHD Library Databases.

I am enrolled in courses this semester but I do not see them all in Blackboard. Any ideas?
UHD does not automatically activate Blackboard courses for student use. UHD Instructors must activate courses each semester through Faculty and Staff E-Services.

Is my computer (laptop or desktop) compatible with Blackboard?
UHD Blackboard Support maintains browser and operating system compatibility information on the Blackboard Supported Browsers and Operating Systems page.

Is my mobile device (phone or tablet computer) compatible with Blackboard?
Although you might be able to access certain components of your course while using your tablet computer or phone, it is not recommended that you do so. When is the regularly scheduled downtime for Blackboard at UHD?
Each Friday morning, between 4:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m., Blackboard undergoes its weekly maintenance. During this time you may not be able to log into Blackboard and access course information.  Each week UHD Instructors are notified via email before the maintenance time and are instructed to plan their coursework accordingly.

What is the difference between E-mail and Messages in Blackboard?
In short, Messages are internal to a Blackboard course while Emails go to external mail accounts. Email sent in a course will be delivered to a student's GatorMail account while messages sent in a course will stay in the messages tool. While both the Messages and Email tools are available in Blackboard courses, students should always adhere to the preferences of course instructors when using communication tools within Blackboard.

Where do I get my grades in Blackboard?
Blackboard Grades are available by using the My Grades tool (on the left Course Menu or available from the Tools link) from within a course. You can use the My Grades tool to check your grades and any feedback the instructor has left on your work. Please remember that access to the My Grades tool must be enabled by your instructor.

My professor is requiring me to post to a discussion board. How do I do that?
Blackboard discussion Forums are made up of individual discussion threads that can be organized around a particular subject. Posting to a discussion involves accessing the appropriate thread, clicking on the reply button, and submitting your typed response and/or an attached file.

How do I chat in Blackboard?
Blackboard has two built-in chat and distance classroom applications: Chat and Virtual Classroom. The main difference between the Chat and Virtual Classroom features is that Chat lacks a whiteboard and the ability to link Blackboard course materials and external web sites. A Chat or Virtual Classroom session will open in a new window after being selected from a course (so please make certain pop-ups are enabled on your browser). Once the session has started you will be able to compose chat messages to send to other course members and, depending on the options selected by the instructor, you can access other items such as the whiteboard and private chat.

How do I take tests in Blackboard?
The Test tool allows you to take tests, quizzes, exams or complete surveys online. Instructors can place links to tests in any content area, although some may have created an Assessments area in the Course Tools Menu. Your instructor will identify where tests will be linked within his or her course.

What is Respondus Lockdown Browser and how do I get it on my computer?
LockDown Browser is a custom browser that locks down the assessment environment, making students unable to print, copy/paste, or switch to different applications. Students will be required to use Respondus LockDown Browser only for assessments that the instructor has selected to require students to use the application.

I had a problem during my test in Blackboard, what do I do?
From time to time abnormalities might occur during a test session. If an error message is received while taking a test, "print screen" the error and send the error message to your instructor. If there is time left on an exam after an abnormal occurance, reenter and continue with the exam and note any further abnormalities.

Please keep in mind that UHD IT Staff are extremely limited in the actions they can perform for graded materials and they are not allowed to access courses without instructor permission.

UHD Faculty (instructors and academic administrators) are the final word concerning tests and all other graded materials in a course.

How do I upload assignments into Blackboard?

The Assignments tool is used to present a variety of learning activities to students, allowing them to view and submit assignments from one location. Assignments can be submitted as text entered on the Upload Assignment page, attached files, or a combination of both. Students access assignments in a Content Area by clicking an assignment title. Your instructor will identify where assignments will be linked within his or her course and what the instructions are for each assignment.

Where do I get information about Real Media (.ram) files?
A Ram file is a text file with the extension .ram (.rpm for playback in a Web page). When a browser receives this file, it launches RealOne Player as a helper application. RealOne Player then requests the clips listed in the Ram file.
