Writing Proficiency Exam (WPE)
Effective September 01, 2006, students will pay and register for their Writing Proficiency Exam (WPE) online. Each test session will cost $10.00 and the fees are non-refundable and non-transferable. Students must register for one testing session at a time. Once students have taken the WPE, the exam must be scored before registering again.
To handle the WPE registration and payment, students should log onto www.uhd.edu, select student e-services, and then My Payment option. At the My Payment menu, click on the “Pay Testing Fees” and follow the online instructions to choose and pay for the available test date and location.
Once the online transaction has been processed, students must print their online admission ticket/receipt and bring it to the scheduled testing location at least 15 minutes before the reporting time.
Note: Seats are limited and will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
What to bring on the day of test:
• Bring current UHD ID or non-expired government issued photo ID
• Admission ticket/receipt
• Writing instruments
• Paper dictionary/thesaurus (optional)
• Hand-outs from the Writing Center(optional) Room 925 North
All types of electronic devices are prohibited on day of exam.

Writing Proficiency Exam is offered only to UH-Downtown students. If you
have not been admitted to UH-Downtown please check your admissions status
