Joint Admission Program

UHD has created joint admission partnerships with area community and junior colleges to help you make the transition into a four-year university. Joint admission means that you are actually admitted to both institutions while attending one and/or the other. One of the benefits to you is that you are able to receive advising from UHD counselors while you are a community/junior college student. Along with a transfer guide for your planned major, you will have all the information you need to complete your bachelor's degree most efficiently. The following colleges participate in joint admissions with UHD:

Lone Star College
Wharton Junior College (coming soon)
Houston Community College (coming soon)

Lone Star College System

Lone Star College and UH-Downtown are smoothing your path to a bachelor’s degree! Through the Joint Admission Agreement, you can be a student at Lone Star College (Lone Star College System) and at UH-Downtown (UHD) at the same time. You can earn credits toward your Lone Star College associate degree and your UHD bachelor’s degree at the same time.

As a Joint Admission (JA) Student You are admitted to both UHD and Lone Star College. You can make a seamless transfer to UH-Downtown and maximize your transfer credits. UHD academic advisors will visit each Lone Star College campus on a regular basis to give you in person, individual attention as you plan your course of study. You can even declare a major in any of the bachelor’s programs offered at UHD immediately after meeting requirements.

JA Benefits

After you are accepted into the program, you can receive a UHD Student ID, and you get the benefits of being  a UHD student:
