Official Transcripts |
| |
|
You must have official transcripts sent to the Office of Admissions-Graduate Admissions which reflect at least the last sixty semester hours of course work and evidence of a degree awarded. A transcript is considered official when it bears the institution’s seal, is signed by the issuing authority, and is sent directly by the institution or delivered in a sealed envelope from the institution, or is sent electronically to UHD from the issuing institution. Official transcripts must be less than a year old.
Former UHD students may request UHD transcripts free of charge. Visit the Registrar’s Office website for more information.
If you attended a college or university outside the United States, your transcripts must be evaluated by an evaluation service recognized by UHD. Visit the list of suggested evaluation services page.

GRE:
You must take the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) General before being considered for admission to the Master of Science in Professional Writing and Technical Communication Program. The GRE General consists of the Verbal, Quantitative, and Analytical Writing sections. You should have your official scores sent to the Office of Admissions. Scores are valid only for tests taken within the last five years.

|
Submit a resume detailing your work experience and education and demonstrating your document design and organizational skills. Please, do not use Microsoft templates or "Objectives" statements that target jobs rather than graduate studies. |

Letters of Reference |
| |
|
Secure written references from three individuals acquainted with your work and academic potential for example, work supervisor and professors. Provide each evaluator with the recommendation form and a self-addressed envelope. Ask the evaluator to enclose the completed recommendation form and a signed, typed letter of recommendation in the envelope, seal and sign the envelope across the seal, and return it to you. You must submit all three recommendations, unopened, to the Office of Admissions. Download Recommendation forms. |

Writing Sample |

Submit an academic or professional writing sample (1-3 documents totaling 2500 words or more), such as business reports, memos, feature stories, scientific or medical writing, newsletters, proposals, brochures, software documentation, grant proposals, legal briefs, or research studies on technical or business topics. Do not submit creative writing, such as short stories or poetry. |
