The University of Houston-Downtown strives to recognize and reward outstanding academic achievement of prospective and continuing students.

FRESHMAN:
The University's application for admission now serves as the New Freshman Student scholarship application. A scholarship application is not required.

- Applying for early admission is a requirement to be considered for this scholarship.
- Awards are based on students’ high school academic record on file; the Scholarship Committee for Future Students will make selections based on the students’ GPA standing on file by January 31st.
- High school transcripts must be posted in your student record at least two weeks before January 31st to be considered for this award. (Early transcripts are based on academic progress through December. Please keep in mind that official transcripts are required, once they are available, in order to complete the admissions process.)
- Freshman students must have completed the admissions process and be accepted to UHD by January 31st to be considered for a freshman scholarship. Freshman scholarship candidates will be notified by mail and acceptance of agreement must be submitted by the deadline indicated on your contract.
|
CONTINUING STUDENTS:
UHD Scholarship applications for continuing full-time and part-time students are not required.

- Awards are based on students’ academic record and hours earned. Selection is based on student grades posted at the end of the Fall semester preceding the upcoming academic year to be awarded.
- The Scholarship Committee for Continuing Students will make selections based on the students’ GPA standing as of January 31st.
- In order to qualify for these scholarships you must have earned at least 45 credit hours from UHD and have earned no more than 85 cumulative college credit hours by the end of the Fall semester preceding the upcoming academic year.
|
TRANSFER STUDENTS:
The New Transfer Scholarship requires an application.

- Applying for admission early is important for gaining eligibility to be considered for a New Transfer scholarship.
- To be considered eligible candidates must have earned a minimum of 45 college credit hours and have a GPA of at least a 3.0. (The Deans Transfer scholarship requires additional college credit and a higher GPA.)
- An application for this scholarship can be downloaded from the application link below, as it becomes available.
- The Scholarship Committee for Future Students will select candidates based on academic merit.
- Scholarship candidates will be notified by mail after the selection process is completed.
|
Students currently receiving a renewable UHD Freshman undergraduate scholarship, renewable Transfer scholarship or a renewable Deans scholarship are not eligible to receive an additional UHD Undergraduate scholarship.

Scholarship awards will be awarded as long as funds are available. UHD scholarships are credited toward your tuition and fee bill. If you are awarded funds in excess of your tuition and fee bill, you will have a credit balance towards your UHD GatorCard or a check mailed to your home address by the UHD Student Accounting Office.
