The study of psychology aims to improve your understanding of self and of others, as well as the biological and physiological substance underlying human and animal behavior and mental processes. Students will study the relationships between brain function and behavior, and environment and behavior.

About the Program

The Bachelor of Science in Psychology at UHD is a 120-credit-hour program in which you will master skills in research, project development, analysis, and presentation of findings. You will demonstrate an understanding of the major concepts, discoveries, and historical trends in psychology.

Program courses cover several subject areas, including: Human Growth and Development, Childhood and Adolescence, Clinical Studies, Cognition—Learning & Behavior, Sensation and Perception, Statistics and Research Methods, Memory, and Abnormal Psychology.

Though not mandatory, students have the option of choosing a minor (minimum of 18 hours), such as: Ethnic Studies, Biology, and Criminal Justice, to help further specialize their program degree plan.

Our psychology program provides an education, which offers students the flexibility and growth potential that employers find valuable. Beyond clinical applications, there are diverse opportunities for graduates to apply a psychology degree, including the following industries:

Affiliated Student Organizations

Psi Chi is a national honor society that serves to encourage, stimulate, and promote excellence in scholarship and advance the science of psychology. Its mission is to produce well-educated, ethical, and socially responsible members who are committed to contributing to the science and profession of psychology and to society in general. Psychology Club is a social organization comprised of psychology majors and other students who express an interest in the field of psychology. The goal of the club is to increase the understanding of the field, facilitate interaction among students, and enrich students’ social experiences through recreational, service, and academic experiences at UHD.
