Laptop
Pilot Project
Bridging the Digital Divide for first year students at UHD is
at the heart of this project. Toward that end, in Fall 2001, students
enrolled in selected sections of linked courses recieved laptop
computers for use at home and in the classroom.
Participating Learners' Community faculty worked collaboratively
to design a curriculum that utilized instructional technology,
and participating first-year students enrolled in a freshman seminar
offering technological support. The Laptop Pilot Project will
be assessed to measure the effect of technological access on student
academic performance.
