  • Welcome to the UHD Learners' Community

The UH-Downtown Learners' Community was established in Fall 2000, through the assistance of a U.S. Department of Education Title V grant, to aid entering students in their transition to the university experience. The Learners' Community project is designed as a web of integrated services to offer students entering UHD as first-time-in-college freshmen a support structure during the first year of university enrollment.

    The project's goals are:

    • to increase the persistence rate of those students enrolled in the program,
    • to improve their academic performance,
    • to enhance their adjustment to college during their first year,
    • to increase the chance that they will attain a baccalaureate degree within five to six years.
