2009-2010 Study Abroad Photo Contest

 

Your photos will be evaluated by a team of judges from across campus. Winning photographs will be displayed in future International education publications/videos, and showcased on the Web site.

By entering the contest you will be giving the Academic Affairs Office permission to use your photo(s) in various marketing activities, publications, and/or on the Web for the purpose of promoting study abroad at the Uninversity of Houston-Downtown. This means all photos, not just winning entries, will be eligible for inclusion in such activities.

To enter, read the rules of the contest below, complete the form, and return to the Academic Affairs Office (950-South)
by January 15, 2010.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

Entrants must be students who have participated in, and earned credit in, an UHD-sponsored study abroad program. This includes current students as well as recent graduates; UHD students as well as students from other universities who went on an UHD program.

• Photos must be original work (no professional photos will be accepted) and have been taken by the entrant during the entrant’s study abroad program or by another participant on the entrant’s program.
• A maximum of two photos may be submitted per entrant.
• Photos may be color, black & white, or sepia, and may be submitted as prints or digital images.

DIGITAL IMAGES:

• may be submitted on CD or e-mailed to the Academic Affairs Office
• should have a resolution of 300 dpi or higher (preferred, not required)
• the image file must be titled to correspond with your entry form

PRINTS:

• must include the entrant’s name and title of the photo on the back of each print

A completed entry from MUST accompany every entry. If submitting digital photos via e-mail, your entry form may be scanned and submitted with your photo(s). You can also cut and paste the entry form into an e-mail and include an electronic signature.
Entries must be received no later than 5:00 p.m., January 15, 2010 at the Academic Affairs Office, 950-South Main, University of Houston-Downtown, Houston, Texas. 77002.

AWARDS

Winning entries will be selected based on the best quality photographs that are clearly identifiable as a location outside of the United States. Photos should capture images of students interacting with local populations and/or portray the essence of the entrant’s study abroad experience. While landscape shots are beautiful, we’re really looking for photos that tell us about your study abroad experience!

Winners will be notified by e-mail in mid-February. Only one award per entrant will be given. Judges decisions are final.
ALL photos (both winners and non-winners) will become the property of the Academic Affairs Office and will not be returned.
