ETSP Mission
The Educational Talent Search Program at the University of Houston - Downtown has been in operation over eightteen years, during which time it has served thousands of students in the Houston area. ETSP is funded by the U.S. Department of Education, and its primary goal is to encourage individuals age 11-27 to complete secondary education and pursue post-secondary education.

Talent Search works in 10 schools in the Aldine Independent School District with students who specifically dedicate themselves to pursuing higher education. Students participate by attending monthly advisement sessions, college campus tours, cultural field trips, tutoring and mentoring sessions as needed, college prep-test reviews, summer enrichment programs, and so on. Workshops are presented to students on subjects such as financial aid, college entrance requirements, study skills, stress management, goal setting, test-taking, and peer pressure. All participation is voluntary, but it requires that students maintain acceptable grade point averages and remain in good behavioral standing with their schools.

If you think you may be eligible for participation and you attend one of our target schools, please complete the application forms and return them to our office. If you have any further questions or comments about our program, please contact Ana-Lisa Becerra at 713.221.8992.
