Summer Fast Track Institute

About our Program

The Summer Fast Track Institute is designed to enhance student skills in Reading, Writing, and Math to ensure student success in college and the New TSI Assessment. Incoming UHD freshmen who are conditionally admitted and those with New TSI scores falling below the college ready threshold in Math (336-349), Reading (342-350), or Writing (350-635) are eligible to participate.
Students who actively participate will have the opportunity to:

  • Receive a cash stipend at the beginning of each week to cover transportation and dining
  • Receive a copy of the freshman common reader and the chance to begin drafting an essay for the scholarship competition
  • Interact with faculty to learn high impact strategies to boost New TSI scores along with skills that will prepare students for the college classroom
  •  Become acquainted with the UHD campus, make new friends, and gain valuable knowledge about financial aid, resources, options for majors and careers, and more
  • By-pass course that do not count towards your college GPA or graduation
  • Register for college-level courses
  • Qualify to win a free laptop
  • Receive a $250 cash stipend at the program’s conclusion
  • Receive an additional $250 cash stipend in September by testing out of 1 or more developmental courses
