Program Overview

The CAPS program is a comprehensive slate of activities designed to build a community of learners among First Time in College (FTIC) students and offers ongoing, individualized support. By creating traditions intended to connect students to the university, the CAPS program utilizes a peer communication network to help students persist to graduation.  The CAPS Program offers support for Supplemental Instruction (SI) /Tutoring, Learning and Study Strategy Workshops, peer/staff/faculty mentoring, and the Freshman Seminar. The program is a partnership among several departments at UHD working together to provide a holistic approach to increasing student’s awareness and commitment to civic engagement, involvement in on-campus activities, and over-all personal success.
