UHD President Flores succeeded as a first-generation student..
You can too.

Your FGS story could inspire a student to pursue a college education or persist in school when facing adversity.
We need stories that offer glimpses into the journeys of UHD faculty and staff who were once first-generation students - the highs, the lows, the people who helped, and the lessons you learned.
Since our target audience is high school and college students, write in a reader-friendly style for that age group. Include lots of detail, for example, instead of saving "I was raised in a small community," say "I was raised in a town of only 350 people." If foreign language words are appropriate, use them, for example, "my tios and tias."
Consider writing or videoing your story chronologically or in a narrative style that captures important events. Refer to the guidelines for additional information about story production and submission.
