In December 2004, UHD Scholars Academy was awarded the Texas Higher Education Star Award, established by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board to recognize exemplary contributions toward closing the educational gaps that challenge the state. the Academy has recieved acknowledgement on national and international levels as an exemplar for fostering academic success within an urban university enviroment. At this campus-wide event, you will have an opportunity to view research and project posters along with oral presentations from our students within the College of Sciences and Technology as well as the Colleges of Business, Humanities and Social Sciences, and Public Service. The purpose is to help promote students within the Scholars Academy to prospective graduate schools and internships. It additionally serves a second purpose of showcasing the academic projects undertaken by UHD students in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Click here for more information.
The SA Student Honors Convocation is held each May, and is attended by SA members, their families and UHD faculty and staff. Of special interest is the recognition of over 70 students who attended or presented scientific posters or papers at off-campus scientific conferences and the 80+ students who presented scientific research posters at on-campus conferences.
