The Scholars Academy began in 1999 with only 20 students; enrollment in the Fall 2007 semester reached 191 undergraduates. We expect to maintain an approximate enrollment of 175 each semester over the next several years.

In addition, retention of students within the SA remains high. From the Spring 2007 semester to Fall 2006, 119 of the 183 SA members continued their studies as members of the Academy in Fall 2007, 39 graduated in spring/summer 2007, nine were suspended, seven transferred to other institutions and seven withdrew from the Academy. Retention, excluding graduates and transfers, was approximately 91%. We expect our future retention rates to remain within the range of 80-90% as in the past.
