The Scholars Academy began in 1999 with only 20 students; enrollment in the Spring 2007 semester reached 183 undergraduates. We expect to maintain an approximate enrollment of 185 each semester over the next several years.

In addition, retention of students within the SA remains high. From the Spring 2006 semester to Fall 2006, 105 of the 167 SA members continued their studies as members of the Academy in Fall 2006, 40 graduated in spring/summer 2006, ten were suspended, eight transferred to other institutions and three withdrew from the Academy.
Retention, excluding graduates and transfers, was approximately 88%. We expect our future retention rates to remain within the range of 80-90% as in the past.
