"We won’t have a society if we destroy the environment."
Policy
"Integrating environment and natural resources into peacebuilding is no longer an option – it is a security imperative."1
UHD students explored this issue through their research projects and participation in the first Model United Nations hosted by University of Houston-Downtown in spring 2009.
"I went to the Model UN as a representative of Sudan. We were not able to come up with a resolution for Sudan, but I did encounter problems to my initial demands. It seems as if most people are engrossed in the conflict in Sudan arising mainly form religious differences, rather than an unsustainable environment."
The most important lesson I learned was how to think outside of the box—so to say."
- UHD Biology 1312 Student, Nancy Adossi
"National Model United Nations programs provide students with a better understanding of the inner working of the United Nations as they build skills in diplomacy and compromise."2
